Privacy Policy
How we handle information on this website and in the services we run for clients, including JSV Inventory and its QuickBooks Online connection.
The short version: we use information only to provide the IT services and apps our clients ask for. We don't sell it, we don't use it for advertising, and a client can ask us to export or delete their data at any time.
Who we are
JSV IT Solutions is a business name of JS Venture Labs LLC, a California limited liability company ("we", "us"). We provide managed IT support, websites and business software to small businesses. Questions about this policy go to support@jsvitsolutions.com.
What this policy covers
- This website, jsvitsolutions.com.
- Apps we run for clients: JSV Inventory (an inventory and bookkeeping tool that reads a store's point-of-sale system), the client support portal, and the IT helpdesk chat.
- Our remote monitoring and support of client computers.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Your name, business name, email address and anything you write when you contact us, open a support ticket or use the helpdesk chat. Sign-in details for our apps (passwords are stored only as one-way hashes).
Client computers we support
For computers under a support agreement, our monitoring agent reports technical details such as computer name, operating system, installed updates, disk space, running services, event logs and backup status. We use this only to keep those computers working and secure.
JSV Inventory
For a store that uses JSV Inventory, a read-only sync copies from its point-of-sale system: item details, stock levels, prices and costs, suppliers, sales totals per item, and daily register totals by payment type. It does not copy card numbers or customer records, and it never changes anything in the point-of-sale system.
QuickBooks Online (when a client connects it)
A manager at the client business can connect JSV Inventory to the business's QuickBooks Online company through Intuit's sign-in page. With that permission, the app:
- Reads the company name, the list of accounts with their current balances, and recorded deposits into the bank account the client chooses (the last 45 days), so it can match register totals to bank deposits.
- Writes one journal entry per month that brings the inventory asset account to the stock value in the point-of-sale system, and only after a manager reviews and confirms it.
It does not read or change customers, invoices, payroll, bank credentials or anything else in QuickBooks. The connection tokens Intuit issues are stored encrypted. Deposits copied from QuickBooks are kept for about 45 days and deleted when the client disconnects.
This website
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
How we use information
- To provide, support and secure the services a client has asked for.
- To answer questions and send service messages, such as ticket updates and alerts.
- To keep records required for billing and the law.
We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use client business data for any purpose other than serving that client.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run our services. Each receives only what it needs:
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website and our apps, and their databases |
| Hetzner | Hosts our remote monitoring server |
| Postmark | Delivers our service emails |
| Google Workspace | Our business email |
| Intuit | QuickBooks Online, only for clients who connect it |
| Anthropic | Powers the helpdesk chat; conversations are used to answer the person asking |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our clients or others.
How we protect it
- All connections use encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
- QuickBooks tokens and other secrets are encrypted at rest; passwords are stored as one-way hashes.
- Access is limited by role: store staff see less than managers, and our own access is limited to support work.
- Access to client computers is logged.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we'll tell you promptly.
How long we keep it
- Point-of-sale data in JSV Inventory: while the service is active; the sync replaces it as the store's data changes.
- Deposits read from QuickBooks: about 45 days, and removed when QuickBooks is disconnected.
- Support tickets and records: as long as needed to support the client and for business records.
When a client stops using a service, we give them an export of their data on request and delete it within 30 days unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your choices
- Disconnect QuickBooks at any time from the Books page in JSV Inventory, or from the connected apps list in QuickBooks Online.
- Access, correct, export or delete your information by emailing support@jsvitsolutions.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
- California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including to know, delete and correct personal information. We don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.
Children
Our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and tell clients directly about any significant change.
